Shoe Barn Burn/Drill

Ratzer Rd & Black Oak Ridge Rd

Wayne, NJ    1970

In 1970, it was still common practice for fire departments to safely burn structures slated for demolition. The burning also provided hands-on training for the firefighters. This old barn burned like dry kindling. Shortly after the debris was taken away, a Howard Johnson's motel and restaurant were built on the site. These images are from 126 slides. If you know the exact date of this drill, please let me know.
