JFK Int'l Airport Drill

New York, NJ     April 1970

In April of 1970, members of Pompton Falls Fire Dept Co 3 attended a "field trip" to JFK Int'l Airport to witness a training session where an airliner mock up was set ablaze. In-ground plumbing provided fuel for the fire, and the airport crash trucks provided the firefighting foam. These images, scanned from 126 slides, also show the tail and cockpit of a "new" 747 jet that didn't quite fit into the hangar.
