Pompton Falls Drowning Victim Recovery

Terhune Drive & Hamburg Tpke, Wayne, NJ   July 18, 1977

A spot frequently visited by swimmers and fishermen, this pool at the base of the Pompton Falls tragically claimed another victim in 1977. The strong under currents caught a swimmer and took him down. Assistance by Frank Scardo of the NJ Forest Fire Service helped locate the victim's body using the advantage of elevation in a helicopter to be able to see deep into the water. Wayne Police divers recovered the body. These images were scanned from B&W 35mm negatives.
