Wildfire On The DuPont Property

Pompton Lakes, NJ  July 6, 1991

A major wildfire was averted even with extremely dry, windy conditions. The fuel moisture wasdangerously low, witnessed by the large green trees exploding in flames. Work by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service Sections 2 & 5 and municipal fire departments from Pompton Lakes, Riverdale, Oakland, Ringwood and other towns prevented the fire from traveling a mile or more through the forested property. These images were scanned from 35mm prints.
