New Jersey Forest Fire Service

Crews Fighting Fires Out West In 2002

For years, New Jersey has been joining with many other states in sending experienced crews and equipment to assist the wildfire suppression operations on major western U.S. fires. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service sends individuals in specialized tasks and many teams of 20 fire fighters each, for two-week tours of duty before returning from their "summer vacations" to their full-time jobs back home in NJ.
